Keith Wyness shares verdict on Paraag Marathe being in 'day-to-day' control of Rangers
Paraag Marathe's return to Rangers makes sense and he should be more involved in the day-to-day running of the club this season.
That is according to former Aberdeen, Everton and Aston Villa chief executive, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Marathe's return will strengthen the Rangers board.
It was revealed back in February that Marathe was stepping down from his role as Rangers vice-chairman after just eight months at the club.
He left his job just days before UEFA's deadline for teams to ensure they are compliant with its multi-club ownership rules, following discussions with the governing body about his ties to Leeds United.
Marathe retained his role as Leeds chairman at that point, and reclaimed his position as vice-chair at Ibrox last month after the Elland Road club failed to qualify for a European competition.
Rangers are not competing under UEFA jurisdiction either this season after they crashed out of the Conference League at the playoff stage last week.

Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at three top clubs and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – wants to see Marathe take on more responsibility at Ibrox.
The American businessman stepped down from his executive role at the San Francisco 49ers last month to focus more on overseeing Leeds' rise up the Premier League.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained that he should use the time to also give more attention to Rangers as they look to better compete for the Premiership title this season.
He said: “I think it's good Paraag is a sensible operator, he's got good experience, and that does help strengthen the Rangers board, but don't forget, board directors are there for governance.
"It depends how much he gets involved in day-to-day management. I would hope that he is going to start dipping in a bit more into the day-to-day and to see how things are being governed.
“I believe that directors, while they're not there to make decisions on a day-to-day basis, do need to understand how decisions are made. And that's something that his experience from the 49ers, etc, can help. He's been around football long enough now to be able to contribute and to understand some of the subtleties that go on.
“But let's not forget, the directors and new people on the board are not the ones taking penalties in Europe, when they screwed up the penalty kicks in the last big game that Rangers had there.”

They seem unlikely to sign any more players in this window, but have seen a loan bid arrive for star midfielder Raskin from Besiktas ahead of the deadline.
The offer has been rejected, and sources have revealed to Football Insider that Rangers want over £10million to part ways with Raskin this late in the window.
