Rangers vs Hibernian ref watch: Three decisions Matthew MacDermid got wrong at Ibrox

Rangers' poor run continued as they were beaten 2-1 by Hibernian at Ibrox on Wednesday to heap even more pressure on Danny Rohl.

The hosts found themselves a goal down inside five minutes as Martin Boyle swept home Jordan Obita's low cross.

Rangers then missed several good chances to draw level before Thelo Aasgaard's impressive free-kick just before the break made it 1-1.

Mikey Moore and Bojan Miovski both spurned chances in quick succession in the 68th minute, and they were made to pay as Dane Scarlett scored late on to win it for Hibs.

It was a pretty low-key affair for Rangers' final home match of the campaign, and Football Insider have looked at three decisions that referee Matthew MacDermid got wrong on the night.

Miguel Chaiwa deserved a booking for foul on Mikey Moore

Moore was a thorn in the side of Hibs' defence throughout, and should have been the reason why Hibs midfielder Chaiwa picked up a booking in the first half.

The Spurs loanee was running into the left side of the visitors' penalty area close to the byline when Chaiwa brought him down with a cynical challenge.

MacDermid gave the free-kick, but somehow failed to produce a card for the Hibs midfielder, even though he stopped a promising attack with little attempt to play the ball.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Rangers want Moore on a permanent deal, and he put in another strong display on Wednesday to prove exactly why they want that move to come to fruition.

Felix Passlack dived to win free-kick against Mohamed Diomande

MacDermid did not have to make any particularly vital calls at Ibrox, but still managed to get several smaller decisions wrong.

Another clear example of that was when Hibs full-back Passlack hit the deck in the 61st minute claiming to have been apprehended by Diomande.

The visitors were given a free kick for the apparent foul, but there was clearly very little contact, which was initiated by Passlack himself, and he should count himself lucky that a booking was not given for simulation.

Nasser Djiga should not have been booked for tackle on Dane Scarlett

Rangers fans grew increasingly restless with the referee towards the end of the game, with one late call drawing particular ire from the Ibrox faithful.

Hibs winger Scarlett was away down the left wing in the 86th minute after shrugging Jayden Meghoma off, before Djiga put in a strong tackle that saw him win the ball cleanly.

MacDermid surprisingly blew for a free kick to the visitors and showed the Wolves loanee a yellow card, even though there was no issue with his tackle.
