Nathan Patterson to Rangers dominoes fall into place as Everton eye deal - view
Nathan Patterson looks increasingly likely to leave Everton, and Rangers will be keeping a close eye on his situation this summer.
The right-back has struggled for game time on Merseyside, mostly due to his reoccurring injury issues, leaving many supporters, and likely the player himself, frustrated.
Despite his lack of action, making just eight appearances in 2025-26, he has still been called up to the Scotland national team, and even came on as a substitute in their 2026 World Cup opener against Haiti.
There are absolutely no doubts over the player's ability, hence the strong interest from Ibrox, but the Toffees are in desperate need of a replacement in his position.
David Moyes is now without Seamus Coleman, and while Jake O'Brien has often featured at right-back, he simply cannot be a long-term fix at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
It would appear that plans are already in place to find a replacement, and Moyes may not have to look any further than the Premier League for that figure.
Everton enter the race for Djed Spence
As well as Strasbourg’s Guela Doue and Atalanta’s Raoul Bellanova, Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence has emerged on the club's shortlist.
Pedro Porro has recently put pen to paper on a new deal at Hotspur Way, securing his spot as Spurs' starting right-back for the foreseeable future, while the left-back spot is a little trickier.
Because of Porro, Spence has been forced to feature on the opposite flank, and should he make the move to Merseyside, he would be able to play in his normal position.
That, of course, would open the doors for Rangers to sign Patterson, who has already slipped down the pecking order, barely featuring even when he is fit enough.
The 25-year-old is valued at around £25million (€30million), and if the Toffees are to push for European football next season, The Friedkin Group will have to start spending that kind of money.
Who are Rangers facing competition from for the deal?
Frustratingly, the Light Blues aren't the only club eyeing up a bargain deal for Patterson, who only has one more year left on his current contract.
Championship outfit Sheffield United have been strongly linked with a move for the right-back, with the Blades wanting to win their way back to the Premier League.
However, given that the Gers will be attempting to qualify for European football at the start of next season, there is huge incentive for Patterson to return to Ibrox.
A deal is unlikely to be easy. His age, talent and injury issues are all likely to play a part this summer, but it would appear that the Toffees are eager to get him off the books over the coming weeks.
