Keith Wyness shares update on Derek McInnes ban as Rangers hearing looms
Rangers will be extremely fortunate if they can get manager Derek McInnes' four-game touchline ban overturned.
That is according to former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Gers are more likely to see success if they argue for a rescinded ban
McInnes has been hit with a four-game suspension after comments relating to Celtic's controversial penalty against Motherwell at the end of last season, with the final game of that ban being suspended.
The 55-year-old is set to face his appeal hearing on Monday, and Wyness believes that the most likely outcome is that his punishment could potentially be reduced to just two games.
McInnes was at risk of missing his first Old Firm game in charge, but has been spared that thanks to Rangers' rescheduled clash with St Mirren on 9 September.
With his appeal now looming, Wyness is adamant that a reduction to his suspension would be the fairest outcome.

Aberdeen's former chief Wyness - who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs - believes that McInnes could face an even bigger ban in future if he does not rein himself in on the touchline.
The new Gers boss has already been part of several flashpoints in the early stages of the season, something Wyness believes won't help his cause when it comes to his appeal.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, the Scottish businessman outlined what fans can likely expect from the hearing.
"I don't think it'll be overturned. I think the main fight will be to try and reduce the number of games in the suspension," he said.
"His flashpoints recently haven't helped him, and we've discussed that he's got to be careful here in terms of the way he's getting a little bit carried away in his new job.
"I think they'll be trying to keep it (the ban) down to a one or two-match suspension, and I expect that to be the result as well. I have great sympathy for that flashpoint last year when he was still at Hearts.
"He'll be sailing very close to the wind with that suspension as he sits right now, and any repeat I think, would see him off the bench for a number of games."
Rangers hit by 'complete disaster'
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson recently told Football Insider that Scottish football has a "big problem" with it's UEFA coefficient after both Celtic and Rangers were knocked out of their respective competitions last week.
Celtic squandered a four-goal lead to lose at LASK in their Champions League play-off, while Rangers were beaten by Czech side Jablonec and kncoked out of the UEFA Conference League.
Borson outlined that the pair of results is a "complete disaster" for the Scottish Premiership, whose coefficient is now set to take another big hit.
The football finance expert pointed out that it has "gradually eroded" over time, and clearly will now not be receiving the boost that it needed this season.
