Rangers face uncertainty over Nicolas Raskin's future and may soon have to find a replacement in the winter transfer window.

The Belgium international will surely attract a lot of attention if he keeps performing at a high level at the 2026 World Cup.

It wouldn't be surprising to see the Light Blues cashing in on the 25-year-old midfielder, who is entering the final two years of his contract in G51.

One possible solution the Ibrox hierarchy could consider is a swap deal with Bologna involving Raskin and Lewis Ferguson.

While the prospect of the two midfielders moving in the opposite direction feels far-fetched, it would certainly be an ideal solution for the Glaswegian outfit.

More than making money off the Belgian ace, Andrew Cavenagh is clearly prioritising success at the Govan side, and the Bologna captain has the qualities to propel them to silverware under Derek McInnes.

Lewis Ferguson opportunity could arise at Rangers

Ferguson has struggled for regular game time at Bologna over the last few months, something that surely won't be a problem at the Gers.

The Scotland international has been linked with a move away from the Italian club and the Light Blues have been loosely linked with him due to his familial connection.

If the midfielder shows any willingness to reunite with McInnes at Ibrox, the Glaswegian outfit shouldn't hesitate to do everything in their power to sign him.

A swap deal involving Raskin and Ferguson would see the Belgium international get a move to a top European League, while the Govan side would get an arguable upgrade in the midfield in a player who seems to be looking for guaranteed minutes next season.

Ibrox hierarchy decide on Nicolas Raskin exit

Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke shared on 20 June that Rangers would consider selling Raskin for the right price amid interest from the Premier League.

The Gers must have surely been preparing themselves to receive offers for the former Standard Liege ace after his consistent displays for club and country in the 2025-26 campaign.

Raskin's exit feels inevitable at the Glaswegian outfit, but they would certainly turn adversity into opportunity by getting Ferguson in as the replacement.
