Rangers should go all out to sign Zalaegerszegi TE centre-back Akpe Victory in the upcoming transfer window.

The Gers have been linked with the Nigerian defender in recent months as they look to bolster their backline in the summer.

Having signed for ZTE in the winter transfer window, the 19-year-old immediately became a key player for the Hungarian club and has since had a meteoric rise.

With Danny Rohl lacking options at centre-back ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, the Govan side may have to move quickly to sign Victory as interest in the youngster continues to grow.

Multiple centre-back additions are an evident priority at the Glaswegian outfit after Nasser Djiga and Derek Cornelius returned to their parent clubs.

Rangers can't waste time as Akpe Victory transfer race heats up

According to Ben Jacobs on 5 June, Victory is in demand as clubs in Spain, France, Germany and Italy have made approaches for him.

The journalist has claimed that ZTE have already "rejected" two offers from Basel for the Nigerian defender due to a gulf in valuation, with the Hungarian club waiting for a better offer.

Victory is valued at around £4.3million, as the Gers have been credited with an interest in the young centre-back.

Benfica are another club on the hunt for Victory and it remains to be seen how his situation unfolds in the coming weeks as the transfer window opens on 15 June.

Danny Rohl can present obvious example to convince Akpe Victory

Sources told Football Insider at the end of April that Emmanuel Fernandez was in contention to be the next Rangers captain after James Tavernier's departure.

The Nigeria international has been a revelation at the Gers after a slow start to his career in G51 and has established himself as a key player under Rohl.

Victory will no doubt be encouraged by his compatriot's success at Ibrox and feel it could potentially be the perfect place for him to develop further.

Calvin Bassey is another Nigerian star who made a name for himself at the Govan side and now plays in the Premier League for Fulham.

The young ZTE centre-back should be confident about his opportunities at the Glaswegian outfit, but only time will tell whether they can come to an agreement with the Hungarian club.
