Rangers could be convinced to sell Thelo Aasgaard if they receieve a "big" offer in the coming weeks, sources have told Football Insider.

The 24-year-old has attracted high-profile interest from across Europe this summer, notably from Serie A outfit Atalanta, and could be lured away from Ibrox for the right price.

Rangers are reluctant to weaken their squad in the transfer window, and hope to keep hold of the midfielder, but could see their resolve tested.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Rangers are not pushing Aasgaard to leave, but have not completely ruled out his departure.

The club are under no pressure to sell as things stand, but the opportunity to land a big fee for a player who endured a frustrating first season at Ibrox could be tempting.

Should a significant offer not be forthcoming, however, they are happy to move into the new season with Aagaard as part of Derek McInnes' midfield options.

Could Rangers accept a new offer for Thelo Aasgaard?

Football Insider revealed in May that Aasgaard is unlikely to leave Rangers this summer as the club have no plans to sell, despite suggestions they could cut their losses.

The midfielder completed a move to Ibrox from Luton Town last summer in a deal worth £3.5million, and it had been suggested that they could look to make back that fee.

While his departure is still considered unlikely, if any club was willing to come forward with an offer above what they paid, Rangers could change their stance.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "He had a bit of an inconsistent first season up at Rangers, there's no getting away from that.

"He scored eight goals in 48 appearances across all competitions, and obviously there was a lot of change at Rangers last year with Russell Martin and Danny Rohl.

"Rangers won't be rushing him out of the exit door, but every player has his price, and if a big offer was to arrive for Aasgaard, I'm sure it's something they would have to listen to.

"But he's under contract until 2029, and Rangers aren't under any pressure to sell Thelo Aasgaard as things stand."

How does Aasgaard feel about leaving Rangers?

Amid ongoing speculation about growing interest in Aasgaard and whether Rangers could be tempted to let him go, the midfielder's stance is set to be key.

After a frustrating first season at Ibrox in which he struggled to hit the ground running, questions have been asked about whether he is the right fit for their midfield.

However, Football Insider revealed on 3 July that Aasgaard is keen to stay at Rangers and prove his doubters wrong, regardless of which clubs may be interested in him.

He is hoping to impress McInnes with his performances when the squad returns for pre-season in an attempt to establish himself as a key part of the new boss' midfield.

After a year of experience in the Scottish Premiership, Aasgaard is determined to make something of his Rangers career and show clear improvements in the coming year.
