Rangers should get ready for Nicolas Raskin transfer, they won’t have a better time to sell
Rangers have plenty of planning to do to replace Nicolas Raskin in the upcoming transfer window.
The Belgium international’s current contract has two years left and the Gers should look to cash in on him sooner rather than later.
With the midfielder off to the World Cup with the Red Devils, several top teams will surely be keeping an eye on him after his development in G51.
While Raskin has been a key player at Ibrox, his sale will surely help the Glaswegian outfit raise valuable funds to reinforce their squad before the 2026-27 campaign.
Nicolas Raskin reputation may take a hit at Rangers
Speaking on The Rangers Review on 3 June, Chris Jack said, "It feels like a good time for Raskin to move on this summer. I think partly from a Rangers perspective, I think they could do with a bit of a refresh in the area.
“For Nico as well, you can say that at his age and what he has done here in the last couple of years, I think Rangers has been a good move for him, but he doesn't want to be at Rangers for the rest of his career, does he? He wants to move on and try something different. This feels like the right summer to do it."
This summer feels like the perfect time to sell Raskin after the underwhelming end to the season under Rohl.
The Belgian ace wasn’t able to take the Gers over the line in the William Hill Premiership, leading to criticism from certain sections of the fanbase.
With supporters growing frustrated with the midfielder’s inability to contribute when needed most, his stock may decline if he stays at the Light Blues beyond the summer.
With Raskin’s contract running down and with the 2026 World Cup potentially leading to more interest in him, the Govan side should be ready to accept a significant fee for him.
Danny Rohl already has Nicolas Raskin replacement at Ibrox
Rangers signed Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz in the winter transfer window and he’s been a decent acquisition for them.
Football Insider understands that Andrew Cavenagh wants to give Danny Rohl the tools to succeed at the Light Blues, who are expected to make several signings in the summer, but a like-for-like replacement for Raskin may not be necessary.
Rohl has primarily played the Denmark youth international as a deep-lying midfielder, but he has shown his quality further forward at times in G51.
For the Austrian club, the 23-year-old mostly played on the left side, showcasing his qualities in the final third.
Rohl should look to sign a natural defensive-midfielder in the coming weeks and use Chukwuani in a more attacking role next season as Raskin’s replacement.
