Rangers are in danger of missing out on a deal to sign Fenerbahce winger Oguz Aydin this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old has emerged as a leading target for Rangers in the final month of the transfer window, with Derek McInnes making the addition of a new winger a priority.

He has emerged as one of a number of options on Rangers' radar thanks to his performances for Fenerbahce for the Turkey national team, as well as his potential availability.

However, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Rangers are not alone in their pursuit with Feyenoord, Espanol and Hamburg also in the race.

The three European clubs are prepared to rival Rangers in their pursuit, which could complicate any offer the Ibrox club make to lure Aydin to Scotland this summer.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahce are not expected to let him go on the cheap, and are preparing to demand a significant fee if they are to let him go before the end of the month.

Could Rangers make a move to sign Oguz Aydin?

Football Insider revealed on 7 August that Rangers are plotting a move to sign Aydin and believe he would be an upgrade on their current wide options at Ibrox.

Having already completed the signing of Daisuke Yokota from Hannover this week, McInnes is hopeful of adding at least one new winger to his squad before deadline day.

Aydin has emerged as that new winger target, but given the complications involved in getting any potential deal over the line, it will be far from straightforward for Rangers.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Obviously wingers are a key priority for Rangers. Aydin is the latest name to be linked with a move, but it's not an easy deal to do.

"There is competition for the Turkey international’s signature, there is interest from the likes of Feyenoord, Espanol and Hamburg for Aydin as well.

"I don't think Fenerbahce would want to let him leave on the cheap either, he still has two years to run on his contract there, so it's a difficult deal to do for Rangers.

"But they're obviously keen to bring in Aydin to add to their squad before the close of the window, it just depends on whether they can get a deal over the line in the circumstances."

Which other wingers are on Rangers' radar?

Amid growing concerns that Rangers could miss out on signing Aydin, they have been forced to consider a number of alternative targets to strengthen out wide.

Multilpe names have been mentioned from across European football, with Coventry winger Jahnoah Markelo on their list, while PSV winger Couhaib Driouech is also a target.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed that Rangers have joined cross-city rivals Celtic in the race to bring Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis to Scottish football.

The Ibrox club have identified him among their leading targets, and could look to hijack their rivals' pursuit in the closing stages of the transfer window.

However, Celtic are still believed to be the front-runners for that deal, having already begun their efforts to agree terms with the Italian club.
