Nedim Bajrami may have a few more chances to save his Rangers career as fears emerge over Mohamed Diomande's season.

The 27-year-old has played just 320 minutes of Scottish Premiership football so far this season, with his last start in any competition coming against Dundee United back at the start of December.

Very few supporters at Ibrox have been impressed by the Albanian international since he arrived in August 2024, especially after the club invested £3.4million into the attacker.

Rangers will be forming transfer plans ahead of the summer window, and the attacking midfielder, also capable of playing on the wing, has only a few games left to change minds on his impending departure.

Mohamed Diomande could be sidelined for the rest of the season

Diomande missed the Gers' trip to St Mirren at the weekend, having been substituted during the half-time break of the Old Firm derby in the Scottish Cup quarter-final.

At the time, many thought that Danny Rohl might have made the change due to his early yellow card, but having now missed a game, fears were building over a potential injury to the 24-year-old.

Now, according to the Daily Record (17 March), those at Ibrox fear that Diomande dislocated his shoulder, and the worst-case scenario is likely to mean undergoing surgery.

Even if he doesn't require surgery, the box-to-box midfielder is only likely to return after the upcoming international break, and the manager would be foolish to risk another injury to the star.

Nedim Bajrami must use latest injury to his advantage at Ibrox

That is exactly why Bajrami needs to take this opportunity with both fists, but even with the injury, there is no guarantee that he will be given a start by Rohl, who clearly doesn't rate the player enough.

With one fewer start available, though, the manager will have no choice but to give him more minutes, unless he chooses to go with youth over experience, and that could be another foolish decision.

Rangers are well within touching distance of the Scottish Premiership title, sitting just three points behind Hearts, and many hoped that Bajrami would be the leading figure needed for more stability.

He has yet to prove himself to anyone, really, but every dark cloud has a silver lining. That might be exactly what Diomande's injury is to the former Sassuolo attacker.
