Sheffield United's response to Rangers' Ryan One offer revealed
Sheffield United have no intention of losing Rangers target Ryan One this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blades have already rejected a loan offer for the striker from the Ibrox outfit, and have no desire to weaken their squad in the coming weeks.
Chris Wilder intends to use the 20-year-old as part of the first-team squad this season, while the club are also under no pressure to sell him.
One is under contract at Bramall Lane until 2029, and sources say that it would take a "huge fee" to even tempt them to consider a sale.
Rangers are long-term admirers of the Scotland U21 international, but are highly unlikely to be able to land him this summer.
Derek McInnes' side are searching for another striker after Youssef Chermiti's serious injury, but they appear set to have to look elsewhere.
Which strikers are Rangers chasing right now?
Chermiti's recent ACL injury is set to force Rangers back into the market to bolster their frontline once again.
McInnes and Co. had been happy with their options at the top of the pitch, but their stance has now drastically changed, with Chermiti set to be out of action for the majority of the season.
Football Insider revealed last week that Portland Timbers frontman Kevin Kelsy is on Rangers' "contingency list" of targets to replace Chermiti, with a £7.4million bid already submitted.
However, a move for the 22-year-old is likely to prove "difficult" as the MLS club are under no pressure to sell their star man at the moment.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has also told Football Insider that the Ibrox outfit are weighing up a move for Motherwell hitman Tawanda Maswanhise.
The Zimbabwe international smashed 17 goals from just 35 games in the Scottish Premiership last term, and has been on the radar of both Old Firm clubs of late.
Why Tawanda Maswanhise move would 'make a lot of sense'
Brown suggested that a move for Maswanhise would "make a lot of sense" for Rangers, due to the player's familiarity with Scottish football.
The 23-year-old is already a proven goalscorer at Premiership level, and is a player who the Gers recruitment team already know everything about.
Brown believes that the club will make a marquee signing to help replace Chermiti's goals, and could look at an established talent in Scotland.
Maswanhise's reputation has sky-rocketed due to his form last season, and will not be a cheap deal for any club to strike in the coming weeks.
