Sources: Domenico Tedesco key to Rangers completing Lewis Ferguson deal
Domenico Tedesco's appointment as Bologna's new manager will have a big impact on the future of Rangers target Lewis Ferguson, sources have told Football Insider.
The Gers are keen to take the Scottish midfielder to Ibrox this summer, while there are a whole host of clubs interested in him across Europe.
The 26-year-old also has interest elsewhere in Serie A, amid recent suggestions that he could be ready to leave Bologna after the World Cup.
However, the arrival of Tedesco could now change that, if the new boss sees him as a crucial part of his long-term plans.
A move for Ferguson is expected to be a "difficult" deal for Rangers to pull off, as they would be unable to financially compete with some of the other interested parties.
Ferguson has impressed in Serie A in recent seasons and is already catching the eye for Scotland at the World Cup.
Lewis Ferguson fits new Rangers transfer policy
Ferguson has strong connections to Rangers, with his father Derek and uncle Barry both enjoying lengthy spells at Ibrox during their careers.
Those links have caused the 26-year-old to continually be touted for the Light Blues in recent years, and he falls in line with their new transfer policy.
Andrew Cavenagh and Co. are working to build a Scottish core at the club, with strong Premiership experience at the heart of the squad.
They are also targeting players with a strong resale value, in order to try and future proof their transfer business.
Ferguson clearly falls in line with both those criteria, but securing a move for him this summer is likely to be a step too far.
Tedesco's arrival at Bologna could tempt him to stay put with the Italian, and if he decides to leave, there is likely to be a whole array of suitors.
Rangers ready formal offer for Luke Graham
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Rangers are ready to "firm up" their interest in Dundee centre-back Luke Graham, and make a formal offer.
This comes after English Championship side Portsmouth stepped up their pursuit of the youngster last week, and are working towards sealing a deal.
Graham has significant interest south of the border, and Rangers are now ready to accelerate in an attempt to win the race for him.
The 22-year-old started 35 games in the Premiership last term, scoring twice from the middle of the backline.
