Sources: Rangers' Bojan Miovski plan revealed after double Ibrox blow

Bojan Miovski is likely to remain as Rangers' third-choice striker despite his recent stoppage-time winner against St Mirren, sources have told Football Insider.

The North Macedonian frontman is set to receive an increased number of opportunities in the coming months, with both Lawrence Shankland and Youssef Chermiti sidelined through injury.

However, it is understood that the 27-year-old is currently seen as being below both Kevin Kelsy and Ryan Naderi in the pecking order at the top of the pitch.

Sources say that Rangers know they cannot afford to sell Miovski in January, but his long-term future at Ibrox is far from secure.

Derek McInnes is expected to push him back down the pecking order again once the injured duo return, unless Miovski continues to prove his worth between now and then.

The former Aberdeen star is yet to start a game for the Gers in 2026-27, but popped up with a crucial late goal to secure three points in their last Scottish Premiership outing.

Miovski has received limited opportunities under McInnes so far, and that was largely the same story under Danny Rohl last season.

He ended the campaign with 13 goals to his name in all competitions, but that was a far cry from the 26 that he plundered during his last full campaign at Aberdeen.

Miovski was heavily linked with a move away from Ibrox at the end of the summer, but he ultimately stayed put, and the club are now relying on him to perform.

There is a feeling at Rangers that the ball is now in Miovski's court in terms of his future, as he needs to prove that he is good enough to play a bigger role.

If he fails to do that, then he faces the prospect of becoming the Gers' fifth-choice striker when their other options return to fitness.
