Rangers could find it "easy" to strike a deal for Djurgarden winger Oskar Fallenius this winter, sources have told Football Insider.

Derek McInnes' side are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, whose contract with the Swedish outfit is due to expire at the end of December.

Fallenius appears increasingly likely to leave Djurgarden, and the lack of a transfer fee needed could make it a routine deal for Rangers to strike.

Sources say that McInnes is keen to add to his attacking options once again, and Fallenius would be a cost-effective option.

However, there are some "question marks" surrounding the fact that he has been in and out of the team at Djurgarden this season.

The wideman has started just 10 of the 22 Allsvenskan games so far this term, but has chipped in with two goals and three assists so far.

Rangers ready to pounce after summer failure

Fallenius was one of several targets that Rangers were linked with during the summer transfer window, as they worked hard to overhaul their squad for McInnes.

The Glasgow giants ultimately missed out on the winger at that stage, but they have continued to pay close attention to his progress since then.

Fallenius' appeal has only grown now that he appears set to become a free agent in just three months, especially given how difficult the January transfer window can be.

Rangers will have to move quickly to get their desired reinforcements through the door before the end of the month, and with that in mind, a straightforward move to bring Fallenius in could fit the bill.

The wideman has the highest expected assists per 90 minutes of anyone in Djurgarden's squad this season, with 0.54, and also tops the team's stats when it comes to sprints per 90 with 17.5, as per Sofascore.

Fallenius combines hard work with energy and creativity on the ball, and is also among Djurgarden's leading players in terms of successful dribbles.

Sources: Rangers to revisit Casper Widell deal as as door 'open' for move

Door 'open' for Rangers to revisit summer target

Football Insider revealed on Monday that Rangers are likely to revisit their summer pursuit of Excelsior centre-back Casper Widell in January.

The Gers came close to landing a deal for the 23-year-old in the summer, but were ultimately unable to free up space for him by getting John Souttar out of Ibrox.

However, sources say that Widell hasn't "closed the door" on a move to Ibrox, with Rangers also keen to revisit their pursuit.

The Swedish star is out of contract with the Eredivisie outfit next summer, and is increasingly likely to move on before then.
