Rangers and Bologna face an uphill task striking a swap deal agreement for Nicolas Raskin and Lewis Fergusonsources have told Football Insider.

Agreeing such a complex deal is seen as “difficult”, with the Gers’ pursuit of the Italian side’s 26-year-old midfielder set to be a real sticking point.

Sources say Ferguson is likely to be expensive, and his performances for Scotland in the 2026 World Cup have helped enhance his reputation.

As a result, interest in his services is expected to increase, which could damage any Rangers transfer plans.

Bologna’s appointment of Domenico Tedesco as their new manager also complicates things, as it is unknown where Ferguson fits into his plans for the 2026-27 campaign.

The midfielder still has two years left on his deal at the Italian side, and played 27 games in the Serie A last season.

Can Rangers hold onto Nicolas Raskin this summer?

Raskin’s future at Rangers has long been speculated upon.

The Belgium international had another stunning campaign for the Gers last season, despite their third-place finish in the Scottish Premiership.

Offers are expected for the midfielder in the coming months, with moves likely to be made upon the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.

As it stands, it is likely to be difficult for Rangers to keep hold of Raskin, especially with his contract being up in 2028.

The Gers are set to demand £20million for his sale, with clubs from the Premier League, Serie A and Super Lig all in the race to sign him.

However, it remains to be seen where Raskin will be playing his football during the 2026-27 campaign.

What other business are Rangers looking to complete this summer?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Rangers are preparing to submit a formal offer for Luke Graham this summer transfer window.

The Dundee centre-back had an impressive 2025-26 Scottish Premiership campaign and is also wanted by Championship side Portsmouth.

Now, the Gers are ready to "firm up" their interest in the 22-year-old as Derek McInnes aims to fix any defensive issues from the previous season.

However, the Dark Blues are hoping that an "auction" may unfold for their star, as they look to bring in as much money as possible for Graham this summer.
