Raphinha: Whelan fears for Leeds United amid 'crippling' verdict
Noel Whelan fears Leeds United’s goal difference could come back to haunt them at the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the Whites ambassador claimed there is “a question mark” over certain players when they come up against top-class opposition.
Leeds lost 4-0 to Tottenham on Saturday, a result which ultimately cost Marcelo Bielsa his job.
In the month of February, the Whites have conceded 20 goals in five Premier League games.
Only Norwich City (-40) have a worse goal difference than the Yorkshire club (-31) this season.
Raphinha has contributed just one goal in his last six league games and was benched against Manchester United (20 February).

When asked by Football Insider‘s Russell Edge if the Brazilian’s dip in form was one of the reasons for Leeds’ struggles, Whelan said:
“He made a real difference when he came on against Manchester United. He brings an energy out there. He gets the crowd going.
“It is difficult when you come up against these big sides. Sometimes when we come ups against the big sides there is a question mark there. Not on Raphinha as an individual but as a collective.
“Teams like Liverpool can drain the belief out of your game.
“You don’t want to be conceding the amount of goals we have been though. When it comes to the end of the season and it’s tight at the bottom you don’t want to have that kind of goal difference. Recents results have crippled us in that respect.”
