Raphinha will snub Arsenal to sign for Tottenham after Sky update - pundit

Raphinha will opt to sign for Tottenham over Arsenal if both clubs have offers accepted by Leeds United.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Brazilian’s future.

As per Sky Sports Transfer Centre (23 June 10:38), Spurs are intensifying their interest in Raphinha, 25, and Leeds are bracing themselves for a bid.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday (22 June) that Leeds have rejected an opening offer from Arsenal that falls well below the club’s valuation.

The attacker is in high demand this summer after impressing during his two seasons at Elland Road.

Kenny is backing Spurs to win the race for Raphinha due to their status as a Champions League club.

“For me, as a player, if you have the chance to go to Tottenham or Arsenal then you pick Tottenham,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They have Champions League football and that’s where you go. Obviously, we know there is interest from Barcelona and they are a big club.

“It’s going to be interesting to see where he ends up because there is a lot being said about him.

“Tottenham have had a great window so far and I think they are a more attractive proposition than Arsenal right now.

“They are both obviously massive clubs but I think Raphinha wants to play in the Champions League.”

Raphinha scored 11 goals and chipped in with three assists during the 2021-22 Premier League season.

He joined Leeds from Rennes in the summer of 2020.
