Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes Liverpool is the best fit for goalkeeper Joe Hart this summer.
The England international star has been frozen out of the first team setup by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, and has spent the season on loan at Italian side Torino.
However, even with the 29-year-old expected to return to the Etihad at the end of the season, Guardiola is not likely to welcome him back with open arms, which could see him on the move again.
Hart has already been linked with a host of top Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Liverpool, but Parlour believes a move to Anfield would be the better fit.
Speaking to TalkSport, Parlour urged Arsenal to stick with the under-fire Petr Cech as opposed to a summer approach for the Man City outcast, instead naming Liverpool as his preferred choice destination.
He said: “I can see him [Hart] definitely coming back to England, but maybe not right at the top level – not to Chelsea, Manchester United or Tottenham.
“Liverpool would be a good fit for him, but other than that you’re looking at a mid-table side. I think Arsenal should stick with Petr Cech.”
But Liverpool could well be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, after Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet have been criticised as below the standard required for a top Premier League side.
Karius was brought in by Jurgen Klopp last summer as the club’s new No.1 goalkeeper, but was axed from the starting eleven after a series of high-profile individual errors.
But Mignolet has fared no better since being reinstated to the first-team, causing Klopp to weigh up a potential summer move for Hart.
In other Liverpool transfer news, this Bundesliga ace is the most likely player to join Liverpool this summer.
