Scott Brown has warned that Celtic could lose Brendan Rodgers to one of Europe’s top teams in the future.
In just one year at Celtic Park, Rodgers has proven himself to be one of the key parts in helping the Hoops achieve the Scottish treble as his signings and tactics saw the club steamroll all opposition that stood before them.
And that sort of instant impact has led Brown to believe that Rodgers could be just as much a wanted man as star striker Moussa Dembele.
“You never know as a player or a manager what is going to happen down the line,” the Bhoys captain said, as quoted by the Evening Times. “Real Madrid could come in for the gaffer over the next six months, you never know.
“You could probably understand teams would want him, the way we’ve been playing. Especially with what we did last year in winning the treble. You’d expect that, but for now he is signed up, and lucky enough for us we’re going to get four more years with him, hopefully.”
Celtic captain Brown forged the perfect partnership of leaders with Rodgers last term as their side romped to a treble win without losing a single match in domestic competition.
The habitual title winner made 54 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and supplying three assists despite picking up 16 yellow cards and one red.
It’s widely reported that teams from south of the border are keeping an eye on Dembele this summer after a stunning debut season in Scotland for the Hoops.
The Sun has previously claimed that Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool have all cast their rule over the prolific French forward.
Since joining from Fulham, Dembele has scored 32 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions for the Glaswegians.
In other Celtic news, this 21-year-old’s move has been confirmed in the Bhoys’ latest transfer activity.
