Real Madrid are prepared to give Liverpool Gareth Bale in exchange for Mohamed Salah in order to lower the cost of a potential transfer, according to a report.
Calciomercato reports that Real Madrid are “sure” that the Reds would accept £88million for Salah but wouldn’t rule out using Bale as part of the deal to lessen the outlay.
The same report shares that Florentino Pérez has Harry Kane, Neymar, Mauro Icardi and Thibaut Courtois on his shortlist but Salah is the standout name.
Perez sees Salah as the ideal replacement for Bale who has seen his league appearances limited to five this season, due to injury.
Football Insider Verdict
Even with Real Madrid offering Bale, this deal does not sound worth Liverpool’s time. Despite £88million sounding like a lot of money, given the fee that Neymar cost Paris St Germain, the Reds could easily demand above the £100million mark. Salah has been a sensation for Liverpool this season, scoring 20 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions. Also Bale is an amazing player but his injuries woes don’t make him worth signing at the expense of Salah. Even if Real Madrid end up bidding higher, it’s still wise of Liverpool to hold on to Salah as he could be the difference in them pushing for the Premier League title next season.
