Zinedine Zidane is set to replace Rafa Benitez as Real Madrid manager

Real Madrid have set their sights on a blockbuster summer swoop for Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane when the season resumes, Football Insider understands.

The Spanish giants have made the Senegal international, 27, one of their top targets ahead of the next transfer window.

Spanish sources have told Football Insider that Real are already working on the viability of prising Mane from Anfield.

Manager Zinedine Zidane is a massive admirer of the left-sided attacker, who is a strong contender for this season’s Premier League player of the year award.

The source said the France all-time great and multiple Champions League winner “loves” Mane’s swashbuckling style and the cutting edge he offers in the final third.

He has take his game to a new level of consistent excellence this season as Liverpool ran away with the Premier League before the postponement.

Mane has scored 18 goals and supplied 12 assists from 38 matches in all competitions after going into the season without hardly any preparation following a 2019 summer that ended in Senegal’s place in the Africa Cup of Nations final.

The former Southampton man has been a virtual ever-present in the Liverpool side since joining in the summer of 2016.

He has scored 77 goals and provided 34 assists from 161 matches for the Reds, and came fourth in last year’s Ballon D’Or voting behind only Lionel Messi, teammate Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In other Liverpool news, Klopp has told Michael Edwards to get done a massive deal that is now his ‘number one’ summer priority.
