Liverpool are set to sign Wolves central midfielder Ruben Neves this summer, according to a reliable Portugese journalist.

Lisbon-based Marcus Alves reported on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning that the Merseyside giants have already agreed a deal for the 21-year-old.

Alves, who works for respected magazines Four Four Two and Kicker, wrote "Neves coming to Liverpool" and that the "pieces are moving in the market".

He added that Benfica's Anderson Talisca is set to join Wolves as a replacement for Neves, who has been one of the stars of the Championship this season following his surprise £15.8million move from Porto last summer.

He was one of three contenders for the Championship player of the year in the vote that was won by Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon last Sunday night.

Neves and his team-mates confirmed their place in next year's Premier League with victory over Birmingham on Sunday.

Football Insider verdict:

Neves is not just the outstanding central midfielder in the Championship, he is on a completely different level to all other players in the league in the position. Technically brilliant, as he demonstrated with his recent wonder goal, the five-times Portugal international is also mobile, energetic and tactically astute. He has learned the ropes of English football and demonstrated that he has the class and attitude to not only play in the Premier League, but thrive in it. It is easy to see why he is on Liverpool's radar and if, indeed, a deal is already done, he would be a mighty fine signing.
