Reliable journalist: Newcastle in talks with League One club over deal for 24-year-old

Bolton are still talking to Newcastle over a wage fee for Sammy Ameobi after the winger returned to St. James’ Park, according to reliable journalist Lee Ryder.
The 24-year-old’s loan at the League One club expired at the beginning of January but he is unavailable to play for the Toon in the FA Cup against Birmingham on Saturday as he is cup-tied.
Posting on his personal Twitter account, Evening Chronicle reporter Lee Ryder said that Bolton claim they’re still negotiating over wages, in talks that could see Ameobi return to Lancashire.

Ameobi, brother of veteran striker and former Toon star Shola, was loaned to Phil Parkinson’s side in the summer after the Toon signed wingers Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie.
The wide man, known for his electrifying pace and ease in gliding past defenders, has found the back of the net four times this season in his 24 league and cup outings.

Ameobi has just six months remaining on his Tyneside contract and will be looking to impress manager Rafa Benitez or future employers in order to earn a new deal.
But with Ghana international Atsu joining Chancel Mbemba and Mohamed Diame in leaving the Toon to represent their countries at the African Cup of Nations, Ameobi could be brought back into the side to provide some much-needed cover.
In other Newcastle transfer news, the Toon must cash in on this midfielder for these reasons.
