By Harry Sykes
Burnley are set to make a new move for Leeds United striker Chris Wood, according to a reliable journalist.
Sun correspondent Alan Nixon claimed on his personal Twitter account on Friday that the Premier League club have not accepted defeat in their bid to sign the prolific goalscorer.
Nixon reported that Burnley will make fresh efforts to land Wood, 25, and predicted that the next 24 hours will be crucial in their pursuit.
Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen confirmed on Friday that Leeds have offered Wood a new contract in a bid to tie him down beyond his current deal, which ends in 2019.
The forward’s future has come under the microscope in recent days amid strong interest from top-flight clubs, led by Burnley, who have set their sights on the Leeds spearhead after selling Andre Gray to Watford for £18million.

Sean Dyche’s side tabled a £20million bid that for the New Zealand international on Tuesday morning that was knocked back by the Championship promotion hopefuls, while Brighton and West Brom have also submitted offers of £14million.
Wood is a wanted man following a brilliant 2016-17 campaign in which he scored 30 goals in all competitions, 27 of which came in the Championship.
Football Insider verdict:
It’s decision time for Wood. He must decide whether to accept Leeds’ offer of a new contract or push for a move to one of the Premier League clubs trying to buy him. At Elland Road, the forward is the main man, starts every match and the team is built around maximising his predatory penalty box presence. Would he be afford the same status at a top-flight club? It’s unlikely. Wood will remember from his Leicester days that it is no fun being way down the striker pecking order. Nevertheless, he is in the form of his life, at the peak of his powers and still has room for improvement. Should he stay or should he go? It’s D-day.
