Leeds have been forced to do without Kemar Roofe against Huddersfield as he failed to prove his fitness, according to a reliable journalist.

Sporting Lisbon loanee Hadi Sacko and Kalvin Phillips have also been dropped from the match day squad, although both are reportedly fit and without an injury concerns.

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Lee Sobot revealed on his personal Twitter account that Roofe has missed out, with no details yet revealed about the severity of his injury.

Roofe joins Phillips and Sacko on the sidelines, with Phillips overlooked despite travelling to Huddersfield.

BBC broadcaster Adam Pope, who posted the news on his personal Twitter account, did not mention any injury concern about winger Sacko.

With Eunan O’Kane and Liam Bridcutt now both fully fit and Ronaldo Vieira continuing to impress despite his age, Phillips is now fourth choice in central midfield and has been subsequently left out.

Sacko, who is on loan from Pirtuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, misses out after the Yorkshire giants brought in two new wingers on January’s transfer deadline day.

Modou Barrow has joined on loan from Garry Monk’s old side Swansea, while Villarreal winger Alfonso Pedraza put pen to paper on a deal that could see him sign permanently in the summer.

With both new signings on Monk’s bench for Sunday’s Championship clash at John Smith’s Stadium, Sacko has been overlooked as Leeds now boast plenty of options out wide.

Leeds will be hoping to snatch three points against their high flying Yorkshire rivals, as they look to steal a march on David Wagner’s side in securing a playoff spot.

Currently in fourth, a win for Monk and the Leeds squad will see them move into third and just three points off second placed Brighton.
