Report: Arsenal ready to snub interest in fringe player, Wenger does not want to sell him

By Amir Mir

Arsenal will snub interest in David Ospina as Arsene Wenger does not want to sell the goalkeeper, according to a report.

ESPN claim that Arsene Wenger is keen to keep hold of Ospina as he feels he can provide quality competition to number one keeper Pert Cech.

It is said the Columbia international is a transfer target for Turkish giants Besiktas, but Wenger is keen to keep hold of his player despite the increasing interest in his services.

Number one keeper Cech made an £11million switch last summer from Premier League rivals Chelsea and made an instant impression for the north London club by keeping 16 clean sheets last term.

Ospina flew out to California with the Arsenal squad on Monday as they prepare to build up their game time in two pre-season friendlies.

Wenger’s side narrowly missed out on yet another League title as Ospina made only four appearances for the club last season.

Wojciech Szczesny is closing on another loan move to Italian giants Roma which allows Ospina to challenge Cech for a first-team spot.

In other Arsenal transfer news, Arsene Wenger’s transfer target has met with an Italian club as the Gunners fall behind in the race to sign the highly-rated striker.
