Report: Aston Villa eye 22-year-old, face competition from PL club
By Dominic Toner
Aston Villa are interested in Fleetwood defender Amari’i Bell, according to a report.
The Mirror claim that Villa are one of four Championship clubs eyeing the 22-year-old who has been impressing in League One this season.
The report details that Premier League club Crystal Palace have made an enquiry for Bell and that he has 18 months remaining on his current Fleetwood deal.
Bell has been a regular feature in Fleetwood’s starting XI this season and has played a starring role in their bid for promotion.
The left-back has made 33 appearances this campaign across all competitions, scoring two goals and supplying five assists.

The Englishman is an attack-minded full-back and has been a great attacking threat down the flank for Fleetwood.
Football Insider verdict:
Bell has emerged as a top young player in League One and certainly looks like he could play at a higher level. The 22-year-old is developing into a well rounded left-back and could help improve most Championship sides. However, Villa currently have Frenchman Jordan Amavi as their left-back and it’s hard to see how Bell can rival him for a starting spot. Steve Bruce is looking at improving his squad during the January window as they try to reach the play-off places, but they already have a good left-back in Amavi. Crystal Palace’s interest in Bell is another factor that would be standing in the way of a potential move for the defender, with the Premier League club offering the luxury of top-flight football.
