Aston Villa have submitted a bid for Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak, according to a reliable journalist.

TalkSport reporter Callum Williams revealed on his personal Twitter account that the Championship side have made a move for the Premier League midfield enforcer

Jedinak, 32, was recently replaced as Palace captain by defender Scott Dann, which indicates his time at Selhurst Park could possibly be coming to an end after he made 26 appearances last term.

"It's my understanding one of the three players Aston Villa have a bid in for is Mile Jedinak of Crystal Palace," Williams posted on his personal Twitter account.

Here is the broadcaster informing supporters of Villa's formal move:

Australian Jedinak moved to Crystal Palace in 2011 and has become a firm fans' favourite for his committed displays in midfield.

Former Palace manager Dougie Freedman installed him as captain, and he helped guide the club back to the Premier League under Ian Holloway in 2012-13 when was named the club's player of the season.

Manager Roberto Di Matteo is looking for midfield replacements after the departure of Idrissa Gueye to Premier League side Everton after they activated his £7.1 million release clause.

Villa would welcome the news of Jedinak's signing as the set-piece specialist has vast experience in the Championship with 72 games, including winning promotion via the play-offs.
