Report: Aston Villa plot swoop for 77-cap international who could leave PL club
By Amir Mir
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is looking at the possibility of signing Hull City defender Ahmed Elmohamady, according to a report.
The Daily Star claim that Bruce could make a third swoop for the 29-year-old, who previously played for him at the Tigers and Sunderland.
Versatile defender Elmohamady recently suffered relegation with Hull, who were promoted to the Premier League under Bruce last summer.
It is said that Elmohamady’s future is unclear after his team were demoted back down to the second tier of English football.
The Egypt international, who has earned 77-caps for his home country, has played 32 Premier League games for his side this season.

He can play in a number of positions and has been used at right-back or right-midfield during this campaign.
The two-time Africa Cup winners contract at Hull expires in 2019 as he was named on the bench by his manager Marco Silva for their side’s last league match of the season.
Football Insider verdict:
Bruce already has three right-backs in his squad in James Bree, Alan Hutton and Ritchie de Laet, he doesn’t need more bodies in that area. The senior Villa man does need to strengthen the right-hand side of attack but Elmohamady does not fit the bill. He does have experience, particularly, in earning promotion but with Villa looking to earn their own promotion next term, he is not the type of player fans will want to see coming through the door. He is a versatile player and no doubt adds strength to the squad, but Bruce needs to target players that can go straight into the starting XI.
