Celtic have agreed a deal for Eoghan O’Connell to join Kilmarnock on loan for the rest of the season, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim the champions and runaway league leaders have given the green light for the centre-back, 21, to move to their Scottish Premiership rivals.
It is said that O’Connell will join Lee Clark’s team on Monday of next week, when he will report to Rugby Park to link up with his new colleagues.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international was omitted from the Celtic squad that flew out to Dubai on Friday for a mid-season break as they step up plans to prepare for the second half of the season.
O’Connell has made seven senior Celtic appearances this season but has slipped down the pecking following the return to fitness of Jozo Simunovic and the August signing of veteran Kolo Toure.
In total, O’Connell has played 13 times for Celtic, but his contract with the club is due to expire at the end of the season.
Celtic are flying high in the Scottish Premiership after winning 19 of their 20 league matches to accumulate a remarkable 58 points, 19 more than second-placed Rangers.
By contrast, Kilmarnock are fighting to avoid relegation, with a haul of 21 points placing them four points above bottom-placed Inverness.
In other Celtic transfer news, it has been confirmed that the club have sealed a January midfielder deal with an English club.
