Real Madrid are the new favourites ahead of Liverpool to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson this summer, according to a report.
Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport claim that the Champions League holders have launched their pursuit of the Brazilian and have already offered to double his current salary.
It is said that Alisson would prefer to join Real than Liverpool even though they made contact a month ago and manager Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of him.
This comes after Sky Sports News, citing sources in Italy, reported that Liverpool have opened preliminary talks over a summer move for £62million-rated Alisson.
The broadcaster claimed on their website that discussions were underway via an intermediary that the Merseysiders wanted a deal for the 25-year-old agreed in the “coming weeks” after making initial enquiries during the January window about a deal.
Football Insider verdict:
Loris Karius has established himself as the number one at Liverpool in recent weeks ahead of Simon Mignolet, who has paid the price for too many high-profile bloopers. Karius has pulled off some fine saves in important matches and he looks more authoritative than in his early days at the club, when he had a nosebleed whenever the ball was launched into his box or passed back to him. Nevertheless, the German looks more of a number two than main man for a Premier League and Champions League contender. Alisson, on the other hand, is the real deal, a goalkeeper in the Manuel Neuer, Gianluigi Buffon and David de Gea class, who could be the missing piece of the jigsaw in the increasingly impressive team assembled by Klopp.
In other Liverpool news, the club are to table a mega goal machine offer, he will certainly be at Anfield in 18/19.
