Tottenham are interested in signing Leicester attacker Demarai Gray but are put off by his price tag, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claim that Spurs and Everton are both keen on the 21-year-old, who is currently unsettled at the King Power Stadium.
It is understood that the England Under-21 international has held talks with the Foxes to get reassurances about his game time and will consider a move away if his ambitions are not matched.
The report details that Leicester are adamant the winger is not for sale and value him at over £20million, which is a figure that Spurs are not prepared to match.
Gray is looking to become a regular starter for Leicester in the new campaign after having to make do with mainly substitute impacts in the past.
The wide man is a highly-rated talent at the Midlands club, but he has been unable to get in ahead of either Marc Albrighton or Riyad Mahrez since he joined in January 2016.
He has made 55 appearances for Leicester and shown in glimpses his qualities, picking up seven assists so far.
Gray is renowned for his technical ability and blistering pace, something that was on display for England’s Under-21s this summer at the European Championships.
Football Insider verdict:
Spurs fans are growing increasingly frustrated that they have not signed anyone and it would be shocking if they fail to bring a single face in during the summer window. It may be very hard to improve their impressive starting line-up, but Mauricio Pochettino could certainly make some positive changes to his squad. Rising Leicester star Gray is someone that would fit the mould at Spurs and could slot in well to their style. The winger may not break immediately into the first team, but would get his chances due to a hectic fixture list. His £20million-plus valuation is too step for a player that is yet to really show his form consistently, but Spurs would paying for the huge potential that Gray could still fulfil.
In other Tottenham transfer news, they are plotting a move to sign an £18million-rated Bundesliga defender.
