Everton are planning to table an offer worth £18million for Feyenoord forward Nicolai Jorgensen, according to a report.
Danish news outlet BT claims that Ronald Koeman has been scouting the 26-year-old as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, as his future on Merseyside is still shrouded in mystery.
Jorgensen has been in hot form for Feyenoord this season, who won the Eredivisie title on the final day of the season last month.
The Denmark international scored 25 goals and supplied 17 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions last term.
Jorgensen’s agent Mikkel Nissen has been quoted by BT as confirming that there are clubs who are taking a look at his client.
“The interest is generally great, but I will not comment on specific club names,” he said.
BT also reports that Koeman is keen on Ajax wonderkid, and Jorgensen’s international teammate, Kasper Dolberg.
However it is said that a move to acquire the 19-year-old would be a lot more difficult for Everton as his agent Yalcin Sarica has “decided that the attacker will stay in Amsterdam for another season” according to BT.
Dolberg was in equally hot form for Europa League runners-up Ajax last season, netting 23 goals in 48 appearances across all competitions.
Football Insider Verdict
Everton will give their opponents plenty to worry about if they can sign Jorgensen this summer. The Dane looks to be a real goal threat and his form suggests that he could easily step in for the wantaway Lukaku. Jorgensen’s best years are still ahead of him and he could become one of Goodison Park’s greatest goal scorers if Koeman can get a deal done. Interest in Dolberg seems like it will not lead to anything, but pursuing his name in the future could be really exciting. The future is looking very bright on the blue half of Merseyside at the moment and there’s definitely other Premier League fans who are very envious.
