Report: Everton to miss out on striker target as £25m fee agreed

Everton are set to miss out on the signing of Arkadiusz Milik who is set to replace departed Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuaín, according to a report.

TalkSport are reporting that after the Toffees showed interest in the Ajax player, Italian giants Napoli are set to pounce on the technically gifted forward after they sold Higuaín for an Italian transfer record fee of £79 million.

New Everton manager Ronald Koeman is looking to make an impression on the Goodison Park fans after he took charge of team that finished a disappointing 11th last term.

It is said that a £25 million fee has been agreed for the 22-year-old who scored an impressive 21 goals in 31 outings last season, with the possibility of a medical taking place by the end of the week.

Everton are not the only club who have shown interest in the Polish star, with Premier League champions Leicester City also vying for his signature.

Milik scored the winning goal for Poland against Northern Ireland in the group stages during the recently concluded European Championships.

The highly-rated striker moved to Holland from German side Bayer Leverkusen for a reported fee of £2.3 million signing a four-year contract in April 2015, but after a year Milik is on the move.
