Leeds United scouts were in attendance at Coventry City’s away clash at Stevenage on Tuesday with Jodi Jones the target of their attention, according to a report.
The Coventry Telegraph claim on their website that the Whites were at Broadhall Way alongside a host of other English sides from different divisions, including Premier League sides Arsenal, Brighton and Stoke.
It is said that while there can be no certainty over who the clubs were scouting, Leeds were likely to be watching hot attacking prospect Jones, who Football Insider exclusively revealed as a top target for Thomas Christiansen’s side earlier this month.
Jones, a 20-year-old versatile winger, has been in scintillating form for Coventry this season, scoring five times and chipping in with eight assists in 21 appearances across all competitions, but was stretchered off and taken to hospital after suffering an injury against Stevenage.
Football Insider verdict
Leeds seem to be hot on the trail of Jones and it is no surprise why. His displays this season have caught the eye and the stats are there to prove he has what it takes. Making the step up from League Two to the Championship is not an easy task but it is why clubs undertake these transfer missions. They will have analysed every aspect of his game and if they think he has what it takes, then they will move to snap him up. However, it seems that there may be competition for his signature, and Leeds will no doubt face a fight for their top target. They may well have to give a guarantee of playing time at Elland Road and with so much attacking talent at the club, that may well be difficult to do. One to keep an eye on, that is for sure.
