Report: Liverpool plot swoop for CL winner to solve problem position, Klopp a big fan

By Laura O’Leary

Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas for Liverpool, according to a report.

Diario Gol have reported that Klopp is a big fan of the Real Madrid goalkeeper and wants to sign him, after reports that he is unhappy at the club.

The Costa Rica international is unhappy with club president Florentino Perez, due to the club’s constant links with other goalkeepers such as Manchester United’s David De Gea.

The same report does make it clear that manager Zinedine Zidane fully endorses Navas as his number one goalkeeper.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper has featured 12 times across all competitions for Real Madrid this season, conceding nine goals and keeping four clean sheets.

However, the goalkeeper is currently sidelined with an injury that has kept him from playing in Real Madrid’s last four games.

Real Madrid have conceded 3 goals in their last four games and even suffered a shock defeat in the league to Girona without their number one choice between the sticks.

Liverpool’s current number one goalkeeper is Simon Mignolet who in his 11 appearances across all competitions for the club has conceded 19 goals and only kept three cleansheets.

Loris Karius who arrived at Anfield in 2016 was handed his position but was dropped a string of disappointing performances.

Both Liverpool keepers have come in for criticism though.
