Report: Newcastle medical imminent as top flight attacker travels to secure loan move

Chelsea winger Kenedy is travelling north to Newcastle United in order have a medical on Tuesday ahead of his prospective loan move, according to a report.
Football news website Goal.com claim that the young Brazilian, who can also operate as a left wing back, has been allowed to depart Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis after the Blues made progress in securing a deal for Emerson Palmieri.
It is said that manager Antonio Conte was reluctant to let the 21-year-old attacker leave the club before he managed to get a replacement in, despite Kenedy having made just five appearances for the senior side this season, not one of those coming in the Premier League.
For Newcastle the speed machine’s arrival will signal their first foray into the January transfer market, having seen just five new faces through the door at St James’ Park during the summer window.
Football Insider verdict
Newcastle fans have been crying out for signings this month and while Kenedy’s arrival gives them just that, it is not the sort of arrival they would have been expecting. The wings are somewhere the Magpies’ threadbare squad are actually well stocked, and with Christian Atsu, who also joined Newcastle from Chelsea on an initial loan deal, and Matt Ritchie supported by understudies Rolando Aarons and Jacob Murphy, Kenedy’s arrival seems strange. A priority should have been an out and out striker, so there may be a tinge of disappointment over this one from the Toon Army.
