Arsenal star confirms no offer on the table and is free to leave in summer
There is currently no contract extension on the table for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, and the Gunners standout could be set to leave on a free transfer this Summer, according to a report.
Speaking to Sky Sports, as quoted by The Sun, Wilshere has indicated that there is no offer currently to extend the 26-year-old’s current contract.
“There’s not a decision to make in January,
“I’ve still got six months left of my contract, I’m an Arsenal player and I’m enjoying playing week in, week out,” Wilshere stated.
This is concerning news for Arsenal, as super-star Alexis Sanchez is also reportedly leaving by means of a free transfer.
However, the 17-year Arsenal servant has hinted that his match fitness could have a part to play in the situation.
“Right now, I’m concentrating on each game as it comes.
“I’ve just got back into the team and the club, I suppose, we’re just waiting for that moment where I’ve proved my fitness.”
Should Wilshere be able to do so, it seems unlikely that he will not be offered an extension, as the midfielder’s current run of red-hot form has lead to some fans calling for him to rejoin the England setup.
His dedication to the Gunners is undeniable, and he clearly wants a new deal. Following the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final versus Chelsea, Wilshere indicated that the Arsenal captaincy is a big ambition of his.
“I want to be Arsenal captain,
“I really enjoyed the other night, it was my first start as captain and walking the boys out was a special feeling for me and my family so that is something that I want to do.”
Should Arsene Wenger lose the services of Jack Wilshere it will represent a monumental failure to secure his best talent.
In other Arsenal news, one Sky Sports pundit has claimed that this Arsenal player would not fit in at Everton, amid growing speculation of a transfer.
