Report: Celtic braced for huge PL bid for ace in Jan, European football could prove key
Brighton are preparing to bid £20million for Celtic’s striker Moussa Dembele as they aim to bolster their team in January according to a report.
The Daily Mail reports that the Seagull aim to test Celtic’s resolve in the January transfer window, but the same report states the striker is valued at £30million by his club.
Chris Hughton is aiming to add pace to his strike force with the Bhoys striker who has scored eight goals in 16 games this season, seen as fitting the bill.
The reported bid would see Brighton smash their previous club record transfer of £13.5million, which was spent on Jose Izquierdo in the summer.
However, the report does acknowledge that Celtic are financially comfortable and would not have to sell to raise funds after getting a boost from Europa League qualification.

Moussa Dembele would be a brilliant signing by Hughton as they aim to become a regular fixture in the Premier League. The striker has been prolific in his time at Celtic, and has tasted European football at the highest level. Dembele has attracted interest in the past from the top four clubs in the Premier League for good reason, and if Brighton were able to get in there first, it could be hugely profitable for them in two ways. Firstly he could fire them up the table by scoring goals, something the Seagulls lack, and secondly if he was successful Brighton would be able to sell him on for a big profit. However, if pushed we’d say that a bigger team will eventually prise Celtic’s star player away from Parkhead.
