Report: Rangers bid imminent for £600k-rated top flight playmaker dazzling the league

Hamilton are expecting top flight rivals Rangers to make an imminent bid for star playmaker Greg Docherty after seeing their first approach rebuffed, according to a report.
The Daily Record claim on the live transfer blog on their website (19/01, 08:23) state that the side sitting ninth in the Scottish Premiership predict that the Light Blues will table a new offer for the 21-year-old today (Friday), with their £300,000 approach turned down by the Accies.
It is said that Martin Canning’s side are looking for double that amount, £600,000, for the midfielder’s signing, after he dazzled during the opening half of the season.
In his 21 top flight appearances, he has contributed to nine of his side’s goals, scoring three and chipping in with a further six assists, and has a total of 109 outings for the club.
Football Insider verdict
It would appear that Docherty is very high on Graeme Murty’s shopping list this month, but whether they can secure his signing is another matter entirely. Hamilton are not going to let one of their top talents leave without a fight, especially not to their Premiership rivals, and will be demanding every penny that they feel the young star is worth. With a tight budget at Ibrox, Murty will have to decide whether to pursue a deal or to spend his limited funds elsewhere, risking another club coming in and swooping up Docherty, who looks like he has a bright future ahead of him.
