Report: Rangers eye done deal on Monday for star midfielder hunted by English duo

Rangers are hoping that they can negotiate a deal by Monday for the signing of Hamilton midfielder Greg Docherty, according to a report.
The Daily Record claim on their website that the Light Blues are engaged in deep discussions with their fellow Premiership side over the potential signing of the 21-year-old, who has played a starring role for his club this season.
It is said that the Accies are looking for a deal with a fee of no less than £600,000, and that talks are set to take place over the weekend in order for the clubs to nail down an agreement.
The report also claims that English Championship duo Cardiff City and Preston North End are also in the hunt for his signing, but that it is the Gers who lead the way with Docherty keen on a move.
The central star has made 25 appearances across all competitions for the club this season, netting three times and setting his team mates up with a further six assists.
Football Insider verdict
If this report is to be believed, then it would appear that Docherty has become one of Graeme Murty’s top targets, and it would be surprising if Rangers were to let him slip from their grasp now. The £600,000 asking fee should not be too much of a barrier to the club’s hopes of capturing the young midfielder, who looks set to become a bright talent. Bringing him in by Monday means he would be in with a shout of appearing in Rangers’ mid-week clash against Aberdeen, which could go some way in deciding the final standings come the end of the season.
In other Rangers transfer news, Ferguson has questioned why the club allowed this attacker to slip through their fingers and join their rivals.
