Brighton defender Connor Goldson is on the verge of a £3million deal to join Rangers, according to a report.
The Mirror (Transfer blog, 1.52am) claims that after rejecting two bids from Rangers, they are now ready to sell after the Scottish club will meet their valuation.
And they also claim that Gerrard is set to greenlight the deal that will net Goldson £20k-a-week.
Football Insider verdict:
This is a real statement of intent from Rangers. £3million – if that’s what the fee ends up being – and £20k-a-week wages is a lot of money, but we think they’re getting a player that is easily worth that much. There is one hurdle left now if the finances have been agreed, and that’s a medical. Goldson was flagged with a possible issue after routine screening and underwent heart surgery in February 2017. He made a quick recovery and played his first game after that in July. He only made 11 appearances for Brighton last season, but there’s no question about this being anything to do with health, more that he was behind Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy in the pecking order at the Amex. Goldson, a boyhood Liverpool fan who had Steven Gerrard as his hero, now has the chance to put all that behind him and realise his true potential at Rangers. It’s an exciting move for him and it doubles his reported wages of £10k-a-week.
