Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is eyeing up a complete overhaul of his attacking options at the club with a trio of his current stars set for the exit door this summer, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claim on their website that the Hoops could face losing Patrick Roberts after his loan spell from Manchester City, French striker Moussa Dembele and star winger Scott Sinclair, leaving the Parkhead side light in numbers up front.
It is said that Premier League duo Brighton and Bournemouth are both interested in handing the former Aston Villa man, who arrived at Celtic Park in 2016 for £3.5million, a return to England, after netting 17 times this season, adding to his goal tally of 25 during the club’s treble winning campaign.
With Ryan Christie and Lewis Morgan returning after their loan spells away, the report states that loanee Odsonne Edouard is first in line on the Hoops’ attacking reinforcement shortlist, after the 20-year-old’s eight goals this season.
Football Insider verdict
Losing Roberts, Dembele and Sinclair all in one go would be a massive blow for the club, and while they have come back to replace their departing stars in the past, a triple exit could well be catastrophic. Roberts’ exit seems inevitable, with Manchester City likely to want to test him and see if he has what it takes south of the border, while the other pair’s future lies in the Hoops’ hands. Will both be leaving? It all comes down to money, and if the likes of Brighton, who have shown interest in both Dembele and Sinclair, are willing to splash the cash, then the Bhoys may reluctantly accept. Rodgers may have to get a shortlist ready sooner rather than later, but at least Edouard’s signature seems a straightforward deal to complete.
In other Celtic news, it has been revealed today that the Scottish champions have launched a bid to sign a brilliant English Championship player who is out of contract this summer.
