Tottenham and Liverpool are joined by Arsenal in hunting down a summer swoop for South Koran international defender Kim Min-jae, according to a report.
TeamTalk claim that the Premier League trio are all keen on securing a deal for the 21-year-old centre back after emerging as one of the brightest young talents in Asia while playing for Jeonbuk Motors.
His impressive form with the Korean club has earned him five caps for South Korea’s international side, making his debut back in August 2017, while the 6’3″ giant was also named the young Player of the Year for the K-League back in November.
Since the season kicked off in January, Kim has gone on to make 14 appearances across both the K-League and the AFC Champions League, scoring one goal.
Football Insider verdict
There has been a vast lack of signings in England from Asia as a result of both the quality and the difficulty in getting the required paperwork to allow them to play, so hopes of a swoop may be premature for the three Premier League giants. Kim is still just 21-years-old and while he looks to be a good talent, making that step up to the English top flight could be a leap too far. Tottenham may well have the advantage over their rivals thanks to Heung-min Son, who will no doubt be giving Mauricio Pochettino the inside verdict, as well as convincing his international team mate to join him in north London.
