Tottenham Hotspur will be listening to offers for Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose this summer, with the duo almost certain to exit the club, according to a report.
The Mirror claim on their website that as well as the star duo, Spurs are also be prepared to sanction the departures of Moussa Sissoko, Fernando Llorente and Mousa Dembele – the latter being a crowd favourite at White Hart Lane whose exit will cause much heartbreak in the Lilywhite half of north London.
It’s news that arrives after manager Mauricio Pochettino once again gave cause for concern over his own future at the club for comments he made post-Spurs’ final game of the season where he admitted that, “We need to review things, I don’t know if the club will agree.”
Football Insider verdict:
Poch is clearly single-minded in his decision-making process and while the exits of Llorente, Rose, and Sissoko will be no great loss, there is reason to believe that the way he has handled the mystery surrounding the future of Alderweireld has actually cost the club. Had the Argentinian manager opted to play the Belgian international, who is widely considered the best defender at the club in key-games, then the outcome of their season could have looked completely different. Meanwhile, to sell his compatriot Dembele would be a huge mistake. Harry Winks, whilst struggling with a long-standing ankle problem has shown that he may not be up to the task and the job the Belgian does is the centre of the park should never be discounted. The 30-year-old has been Spurs’ best player on a number of occasions this season where his cool, calm and collected nature on the ball has been one of the main reasons behind the club’s progression. Spurs fans will be devastated should the Belgian duo depart.
