Tottenham are readying a transfer approach for Inter Milan midfield maestro Marcelo Brozovic in January with the Italian giants having slashed the asking price after putting him up for sale, according to a report.
Italian football news website TransferMarketWeb claim that Inter are willing to consider offers in the region of £12million (€14million) for the 32-cap Croatian international, having placed a price much larger than the new figure on his head over the summer window.
The 25-year-old is contracted to the European giants until 2021, and has made a total of 95 appearances for the club since signing from Dinamo Zagreb on an initial loan deal in the January of 2015.
However he is now said to be up for sale, with 16 appearances and three goals to his name this season, although under half of those have come in the starting XI.
Football Insider verdict
If Tottenham are to sign another midfielder in January, then it would most likely spell the end for one of the current members of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. Harry Winks is viewed as a future star and will not be leaving, while Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli are also highly unlikely to depart. That leaves the likes of Mousa Dembele, Moussa Sissoko, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier fighting for their futures, although Brozivic is much more a pass master than midfield enforcer, so he is unlikely to replace the latter duo. Is he what Spurs really need right now? Not particularly, but the tempting price tag means they could still make a move for the Croatian. This could be one to watch in January.
In other Tottenham transfer news, this fringe figure is set for the exit door in January on one specific condition.
