West Ham striker Andy Carroll is open to leaving the club for the Spanish top flight as Sevilla eye up a potential transfer swoop in January, according to a report.
Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo claim on their website that the La Liga side are keeping tabs on the 29-year-old attacker as a secondary option if they miss out on signing Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi this month.
The report also claims that Carroll has spoken with his agents over a move to Spain and that he would be open to leaving the London Stadium to join Sevilla, who are set to take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League knockout round later this season.
The former Newcastle United man has just 14 appearances, 12 in the league, and two goals to his name this season, and a total of 32 strikes in 128 outings for the club.
Football Insider verdict
Much is being made of Carroll’s future this month and it would be a surprise to see him still at the London Stadium come the end of the window. If he is to depart then West Ham need to make sure they get a worthwhile fee for him, in order to ensure that they can sign a replacement. However, how many proven Premier League powerhouse forwards are there out there? While he is injury prone, he has proven that he has what it takes to change games, and that could be priceless come the end of the season.
In other West Ham transfer news, the club have held talks over the signing of a international title holder from European giants.
