Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was recently at the centre of a rather bizarre claim on Twitter.
It was claimed on the Twitter account of French football news site Get French Football that had the Hoops boss taken the Arsenal job, he would have taken potential Hoops record-breaking signing Odsonne Edouard with him to London.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers told Odsonne Édouard, when he was in talks with Arsenal, that he would take the Frenchman with him if he became the Gunners' manager, according to @parisunited6.

The account had gotten it’s information about the alleged deal from PSG fan account ParisUnited6, which seems to be a credible source for the most part about the French champions.
Brendan Rodgers, le coach des Celtics apprécie fortement #Edouard. En contact avec Arsenal, avant la nomination d'Unai #Emery, il lui avait alors confié qu'il le prendrait avec lui s'il signait chez les Gunners.

However, this alleged deal seems to be very odd, even by the standards of modern football transfers.
For a start the notion of Rodgers being in talks with Arsenal seems a bit out of left-field, as they seemed certain to be appointing Mikael Arteta before Unai Emery seemed to get the job at the last minute.

Also it just seems far too convoluted that Rodgers would promise Edouard that he would join him at Arsenal – whose to say that the Gunners football executives would have been interested in signing the PSG striker?
There is no doubt that some teams will be interested in Rodgers for the excellent job that he has done at the Hoops, winning back to back domestic trebles.
But the notion that he and Edouard would be in a ‘package deal’ to move to London does sound very odd, and thankfully for Hoops fans, it hasn’t happened.
