Revealed: Big Aaron Ramsdale update after Arsenal development - sources

Aaron Ramsdale is not willing to be second-choice at Arsenal following David Raya’s recent introduction to the side, sources have told Football Insider.

Raya has played back-to-back fixtures against Everton and PSV Eindhoven in the last week.

It is believed there could be “murmurings” of a potential exit for Ramsdale if he is not restored to the side before the January transfer window.

The England international was in superb form last season and only signed a new long-term deal back in May.

He has been widely linked with potential moves to Bayern Munich and Chelsea in recent days, and a well-placed source at Arsenal has suggested it is “no surprise” to see clubs taking notice of his situation.

Ramsdale had played the first four games of the 2023-24 campaign, keeping one clean sheet and conceding four goals.

The shot-stopper played all 38 Premier League games as Arsenal challenged for the title in the 2022-23 campaign – conceding 43 goals and keeping 14 clean sheets.

He earned his fourth cap for England earlier this month as the Three Lions beat Scotland at Hampden Park.

However, Ramsdale is now facing the prospect of losing out on first-team football with the European Championships in Germany set to start in June 2024.

Raya is also a full international for Spain and could go to the tournament as his nation’s first-choice shot-stopper.

Arsenal have picked up 13 points from a possible 15 to start the new season and recorded a 4-0 victory over PSV in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Gunners face Tottenham on Sunday (24 September).
