David Moyes' future as West Ham manager has still to be completely resolved, sources have told Football Insider.

The Londoners are in the final stages of appointing a new technical director after advertising for the position, with Tim Steidten in talks over landing the role.

The German has met this week with Moyes, who has misgivings about how much his influence will be reduced at West Ham this summer and going into next season if he stays.

The club are confident relations have thawed between the board and the manager in the wake of the club's historic Europa Conference League triumph last week.

They expect Moyes to continue as manager for the final year of his contract rather than take up what are likely to be many potential opportunities elsewhere, with his standing now at its highest in years.

However, the Scot has to decide whether he is willing to work with a director of football, who would effectively have a veto over transfers and be above him in the hierarchy.

Moyes has an excellent working relationship with Rob Newman, the head of recruitment, whose own future is up in the air.

That counted as a major surprise given the team's finale to the season, which included avoiding relegation with relative comfort.

Moyes had been keen to leave the club on his own terms and return to his family home in Lancashire.

Another major factor in his thinking is that he has lost two key allies at West Ham in recent seasons, trusted assistants Alan Irvine and Stuart Pearce.

However, the triumph in Europe, and the goodwill he has received since from supporters, could be enough to convince Moyes to stay on at the London club.
